Video frame capture.

Pick any moment in a video and save it as a PNG, JPG or WebP image.

How do I save a frame from a video?

Drop a video into the box above. Drag the bar under the picture to find the moment you want. Press Capture frame, or press the space bar. The frame appears in the list below, ready to save.

For an exact frame, use the Frame buttons or the left and right arrow keys to step one frame at a time. Hold Shift to step one second. You can also type a time, such as 1:23.500, and press Enter.

Which format should I choose?

PNG keeps every detail and suits screenshots, text and graphics. JPG makes small files and suits photos and video stills. WebP is usually smaller than JPG at the same quality, and most websites and apps now accept it.

How do I capture many frames at once?

Under "Capture many frames", choose how to space them. "Every N seconds" takes one frame at each step, for example every 5 seconds. "Evenly spaced" takes the number of frames you ask for, spread across the whole video. You can keep up to 100 frames at a time. Download them one by one, or all together as a ZIP file.

Can I make a thumbnail?

Yes. Open the settings and choose a size. The YouTube option makes a 1280 × 720 image. The TikTok option makes a 1080 × 1920 image. Both crop the frame from the centre to fit.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Your browser opens the video and draws the frame itself, so the video never leaves your device. There is no upload wait, and the frames stay on your device until you save them.

Why will my video not open?

Your browser can only open video formats it can play. MP4, WebM and MOV files with common codecs usually work. If a video will not open, convert it to MP4 with the video converter first.

How exact is the frame?

The tool works out the frame rate of your video when it opens it, and steps by that amount. Some browsers round the time they show, so a frame can sometimes be one frame away from the time you typed. Step one frame to fix it.
