How to convert HEIC to PNG

Drop your HEIC files into the box at the top of the page, or click it to browse your files. The converter makes a copy of each one in PNG format, and you can download them one by one or all at once. You can convert up to 4 images a day for free, up to 8 MB each. Pro removes the daily limit, lets you convert up to 30 images at a time, and accepts images up to 30 MB.

You can also resize your images and strip out metadata like EXIF data and GPS location while you convert. We store your images for an hour before we permanently delete them.

Converting HEIC to PNG

HEIC is typically used for photos taken on an iPhone, where small files save phone storage, while PNG is used for logos, screenshots and graphics with transparent areas, where sharp edges matter.

What changes when I convert HEIC to PNG?

HEIC has already lost some detail to compression. Converting to PNG keeps what is there but cannot bring that detail back, and the file is usually larger.

Your browser may not be able to show a preview of HEIC files, but they still convert as normal.

Understanding HEIC

HEIC is the format iPhones and many newer cameras use for photos. It keeps files small, but many websites, apps and older systems cannot open it.

Understanding PNG

PNG compresses images without losing any detail, and it supports full transparency. Files are larger than JPEG for photos, but edges and text stay sharp.

Once your images are converted, the colour converter can help you translate any hex, RGB or CMYK values you're working with into whichever format your design tools need next.
